Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a focused and powerful therapeutic technique that helps access and process trauma stored in the brain and body by locating specific points in the visual field. Developed in 2003 by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting works by guiding the client’s eye movements to connect with unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain, where many traumatic memories are stored. Dr. Grand’s principle, “Where you look affects how you feel,” lies at the heart of Brainspotting, using eye positioning to access deep-seated pain and promote healing.

In a Brainspotting session, therapists attune to both somatic and emotional cues in clients, assisting them in identifying and processing unresolved traumas and negative emotional patterns. By down-regulating the amygdala, Brainspotting enables the brain to reach a state of homeostasis, helping reduce or even extinguish symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, and more. The use of Biolateral sound enhances this process, as it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, fostering calm and facilitating profound emotional release.
This method is unique in that it acts as both diagnosis and treatment, allowing clients to address trauma, dissociation, and body pain while remaining grounded. Brainspotting can be used as a standalone treatment or integrated with other therapies to support a holistic healing journey.
